Overview

Data Visualisation facilities include a set of features, software and methods for performing visualisation of data stored in the D4Science e-Infrastructure. Data Visualisation is particularly meant for geo-spatial data, which is a kind of information that naturally lends to visualisation. Data are reproduced on interactive maps and can be explored by means of several inspection tools. The adopted paradigm for maps visualisation needs to query a central GeoNetwork instance that indexes several geo-spatial data sources.

Issues regarding data to be visualised involve their preparation for being displayed: common GIS visualisation tools use WMS or WFS protocols for getting information about the tiles that make up an image. This means that data need to be transformed from their original format to a known, processable format. For such aim, the Data Visualisation facilities involve procedures for transforming raw geo-spatial data into gis visualisers-compliant formats. Other processes can transform such data from a format to another.

Specifications

a G.I.S. visualiser for interactive maps published in WMS or WFS formats
Geo Explorer
a tool for exploring the geo-spatial data sets stored in the D4Science e-infrastructure and retrieve them for visualisation
Tiff Uploader Procedure
a tool for transforming geo-spatial data from a format into another accepted by common GIS visualisers
