Overview

Data Visualisation facilities include a set of features, software and methods for performing visualisation of data stored in the Infrastructure. Data Visualisation is particularly meant for geo-spatial data, which are the kind of information that naturally lend themselves to visualisation. Data are reproduced on interactive maps and can be explored with several inspection tools. The adopted paradigm for maps visualisation is to query a central GeoNetwork instance that indexes several geo-spatial data sources.

Issues regarding data to be visualised involve their preparation for being displayed: common GIS visualisation tools use WMS or WFS protocols for getting information about the tiles that make up an image. This means that data need to be transformed from their original format to a know, processable format. For such aim, the Data Visualisation facilities involve procedures for transforming raw geo-spatial data into gis visualisers-compliant formats.
